South Carolina Education Association Endorses Mia McLeod for Senate District 22

Columbia, SC—Today, the South Carolina Education Association (SCEA) announced that it will support Rep. Mia McLeod in her bid to become the next District 22 Senator.

“I’m a parent first, and the only candidate in this race who has a child in Richland School District Two.  I’m the daughter of an educator and my children and I are products of the public education system.  That’s why it’s such an honor to be the education candidate in this race.  I believe public education is the bedrock of our society, and that every child should have access to the same quality education that my children have, regardless of where they happen to live,” Representative McLeod stated.

Chairperson of the SCEA Fund for Children, Bernadette Hampton wrote, “…your support on education issues has earned our recommendation for the 2016 November 8 General Election. Thank you for your commitment to public education and support of the SCEA’s efforts to ensure quality education for all children in the state.”

The SCEA is the professional association for educators in South Carolina. Classroom teachers, guidance counselors, librarians, principals, superintendents as well as bus drivers, teaching assistants, lunch room operators, maintenance engineers, clerks and secretaries from Pre-K to 12th grade and Higher education are all members of the SCEA.
